Conditions of Carriage
- Timetables: The times published are those that the management of Richmond’s Coaches have good reason to believe coaches will maintain, but incidents may arise which cannot reasonably be foreseen or avoided. Liability cannot be accepted for losses arising from failure to adhere to the timetable except in cases of negligence or misconduct by an employee of Richmond’s Coaches.
- Tickets: Tickets are not transferable and remain the property of Richmond’s Coaches through out their validity and may be inspected by the driver or any other employee of Richmond’s Coaches and withdrawn in case of misuse, e.g. use by a person other than the one whom the ticket was issued. Passengers may not travel without a valid ticket and anyone who has purchased a season ticket but is not carrying it with them when boarding a coach will be required to purchase a ticket to travel that day.
- Luggage: Only lightweight items may be placed in the overhead rack and passengers are asked to place briefcases and other property of that nature on the floor within their seat space. Large items of luggage will be accommodated in the underfloor or rear lockers on request to the driver. Nothing may be allowed to obstruct the gangways or exits and very large quantities of luggage may not be carried except by prior arrangement. Pedal cycles cannot be carried.
- Smoking is not permitted on any of Richmond’s Coaches
- Behaviour of Passengers: The driver or any of Richmond’s management or supervisory staff is empowered to require a passenger to leave a coach should their behaviour be a danger to themselves, or a danger or a nuisance to other passengers or a danger to other road users. Such behaviour shall include consumption of alcohol, noise from any other instrument, radio or recorded sound player, unpleasant language or threatening behaviour.
Refunds
Tickets are non-refundable with the exception of Annual Season Tickets the following procedure applies:
- The season ticket must be posted or handed in person to our office immediately. Credit will be given from the date the ticket is in our possession.
- Without the season ticket no refund will be given.
- Annual season tickets have been calculated on 40 weeks travel and after that period has passed no refund is payable. A refund will be based on the remaining full calendar months less 20% administration fee.
- As most employers retrieve season ticket loans over 12 equal monthly instalments, if you surrender your ticket you will find that you owe your employer more than the tickets’ refund value.
- Refunding of tickets paid for originally by Company cheque will be refunded to the company unless authorisation is made in writing by the company for the refund to be made payable to the ticket holder.
Lost property
Any articles found on a coach must be handed to the driver or any other employee as soon as possible after they have been found. While Richmond’s will use its best endeavours to keep property safe once it has been handed to a member of staff on duty and the circumstance of its finding reported, no responsibility will be accepted for the property left on vehicles or premises. Property unclaimed after one month may be disposed of in whatever manner the management chooses and if it is perishable or deemed to be valued at less than 50p it may be disposed of sooner. The law states that we may charge for the return of lost property, however there will be no charge to our regular commuters.
